Industry is shifting from steel cable to synthetic rigging. Sky Tower, the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere (located in Auckland, New Zealand) replaced the 250 meter long steel cables used by their elevators with Synthetic fiber ropes in July 2015. The new carbon fiber ropes are half the weight of the original steel cables, have reduced overall energy consumption by 15%, and have enabled an increased elevator speed from 3.5 meters per second to 5 meters per second. Make sure you take a look at the strength of our various ASR products, and take advantage of the benefits of these modern synthetic fibers in your own activities!
